# Automation and integrations

> Connect HTTP automation tools or use the native integrations in OutReign.

## Zapier, Make and n8n

Use an HTTP request action to call the REST API:

1. Set the method and URL from the API reference.
2. Add `X-API-Key` using the automation tool's credential store.
3. For writes, select JSON and send only the documented request fields.
4. Map the JSON response into your next step.
5. Handle errors and usage limits before allowing automatic retries.

Start with a read-only call to `/leads`. Test writes against a record you control before enabling a production automation.

To start an automation from an OutReign event, configure an [outbound webhook](https://docs.outreign.io/developer-docs/webhooks/overview.md). To bring an external event into OutReign, use an [inbound webhook](https://docs.outreign.io/developer-docs/webhooks/inbound.md). A Zapier webhook URL is not an OutReign API key.

## Native connections

OutReign's **Integrations** page supports Gmail, HubSpot, Salesforce, Slack, Calendly and Zapier. Use each provider's connection dialog; OAuth credentials and permission requirements differ by provider.

The REST API does not expose every action available in the app or every provider's API. Do not send a REST API key to a third-party provider's endpoint.

## AI assistants

For Claude, ChatGPT or another compatible assistant, use [MCP](https://docs.outreign.io/developer-docs/mcp/connect.md), not an HTTP automation built around a shared API key.
