# Outbound webhooks

> Receive OutReign lead and deal events at your own endpoint.

Outbound webhooks deliver subscribed OutReign events to your server or automation tool. They are separate from [inbound webhooks](https://docs.outreign.io/developer-docs/webhooks/inbound.md), which accept data into OutReign.

## Create a subscription

1. In OutReign, open **Settings → Webhooks → Outgoing**.
2. Add a webhook name and your publicly reachable HTTPS receiver URL.
3. Select the events you want to receive.
4. Save the webhook and securely copy its signing secret.
5. Use the webhook test control, then inspect the delivery log.

Localhost, private networks and internal addresses are not valid production receivers. A test request can execute your receiver's automation; use a test destination before connecting a live workflow.

## Request format

OutReign sends an HTTP `POST` with JSON:

```http theme={null}
Content-Type: application/json
X-Webhook-Event: lead.created
X-Webhook-Signature: HEX_HMAC_SHA256_SIGNATURE
```

```json theme={null}
{
  "event": "lead.created",
  "data": {
    "id": "00000000-0000-4000-8000-000000000001",
    "company_name": "Example B2B Software",
    "contact_email": "prospect@example.com"
  },
  "timestamp": 1793937600000
}
```

This is an illustrative payload, not a real customer record. `timestamp` is Unix time in milliseconds. `data` varies by event; creation and update events contain the resulting record, while delete and stage-change events have event-specific fields.

## Receiver checklist

* Verify the [signature](https://docs.outreign.io/developer-docs/webhooks/security-and-retries.md) against the raw body before processing.
* Return a successful `2xx` response after securely accepting the event.
* Queue slow work instead of keeping the webhook request open.
* Handle duplicates and do not assume event ordering.
* Use delivery logs to diagnose non-success responses and retries.

See the [event reference](https://docs.outreign.io/developer-docs/webhooks/events.md) for available subscriptions.
